Murray’s background started in Wellington, New Zealand, where he was born and raised.  His first role saw him working as a self-employed Silicon Maintenance Engineer (that’s just a fancy name for window cleaner) and he certainly has some fun stories to tell about those days.  He then moved into the wholesale food industry working for Foodstuffs in various roles over a seven year period.  His last role was as a Marketing consultant, which he left (in 2005) in order to move with his family to Tauranga.  

Shortly after arriving in Tauranga, Murray and his wife Kerryann purchased a distribution franchise through New Zealand Post, which they successfully ran together.  This led to them wanting to manage their own business, one which had a strong customer service focus.  When they saw that The Pool Shop had come up for sale they jumped at the opportunity.  Being involved with The Pool Shop gives Murray the opportunity to provide a quality, qualified service to new and existing customers in the Bay of Plenty region.  He understands that to meet customers’ needs The Pool Shop need to stock a wide range of products and offer a one stop shop for everything to do with swimming and spa pools.  He also ensures that all staff are fully trained and qualified, working to professional standards that his customers can trust.  

Murray has a New Zealand Diploma in Business.  In 2012 he completed a three part intensive Pool Water Treatment and Operations Course through Opus and he has an excellent knowledge of water treatment and chemical balancing.  He continues to up-skill himself and regularly attends educational courses to keep up to date with the latest technologies.  Murray has a very strong technical and practical aptitude and since being trained by an experienced pump repairer he has quickly become an expert at pump repairs.   

On a personal note, Murray is married to Kerryann Hall, (co-owner of The Pool Shop) and they have two beautiful girls, Tyler and Jade, which they are both extremely proud of.  In his spare time Murray enjoys playing golf and taking his boat out fishing.   The Hall family enjoys an active lifestyle and likes to make the most of all that the Bay of Plenty has to offer, including the beaches and outdoor lifestyle.
